Black screen during Building

I have a problem which occurs during a build of my source code. The screen "blinks" twice - goes completely black, then the building process finish and I'm back at explorer. I'm currently using WinXP Professional.

Please check whether you have changed the default settings for the windows console (cmd.exe).
It looks like as if it is set to be shown in fullscreen-mode.
