Hello, I am quite new to programming, but I think the best way I learn is to have something to work on. The biggest thing I did was make a command line Blackjack game in C, but I want to work more on programming and turn this into a career. I am currently familiar with C and C++, but I am now starting to learn Javascript, C#, and Wordpress (though that isn't really a programming language). I run OS X (I have a MBPr) but I can install Windows and/or Linux again.

I am now finishing up my mathematics BS this Spring. I am going to graduate with an associate in science, and environmental studies certificate, and a philosophy minor as well (I have studied logic). If any of these skills would be useful, please let me know, I would like to get involved in this project. Any advice is also highly appreciated!

You could start with the bug tracker at Sourceforge. Choose a bug that is assigned to no-one and fix it. Then post the patch here in the forums or at SourceForge. Please make sure you are following the coding guidelines. (Can be found on the WiKi.)
