Tab character in auto-complete should honor user's preference for tab-to-spaces?

Right now, a tab character in the auto-complete forces insertion of a hard tab. If the user has tabs-to-spaces checked, I think the autocomplete should tab-to-spaces when it encounters a templated hard tab. I'd call this a bug, what do y'all think about it?
