Hmm I'll wait for 2.6.3 to see if that solves the problem..... I really don't want to have 2.6.1 on my PC, and I don't mind this bug seeing that if you close the undocked window no crash.

You might would like to try 2.6.3-RC1, even if I do have toolbar layout problems which seem to be independent of wxAUI.
