Was Sourceforge *that* unreliable? Or maybe there was another reason for the switch to Berlios, I don't know...

jmccay

I was not a part of the decision, but I think the reason was to use subversion.  I may be wrong on that though.

Can we set up our own server somewhere?

Another reason to switch to Berlios was that Sourceforge was located in the US, and the lag was horrible because most of the devs live in Europe.

I've been facing a severe delay in accessing the C::B forum. Is anyone facing this problem??

Just to give you an example. Opening the forum main page, then logging into it and then posting this reply is taking 4-5 min (approx). :(
Be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem.

Only when myself or my  roommate have throttled BitTorrent.

You can now also use Subversion with sourceforge.

I use SF for my project and I don't have problems with lag.

Yes, I occasionally experience it too since about a week, with no BitTorrent, and no roommate present in this location. Loading every other web page in a fraction of a second at the same time.
I've also seen occasional "connection closed by server" and "timeout while connecting to server" recently.

Yiannis: Maybe it's related to the you-know-what service you installed approx. a week ago?

There is gna.org in france for replace berlios.

Is there a way to set up mirrors -- with the lag as a known factor?  I know this would complicate things, but could we mirror the code on 2 continents to satisfy both groups.  It's just an idea.

Since berlios svn is working all the time, there is no need for this.
Although we could use sf.net to upload the nightlies.

Then why do people have problems logging in all the time?  Maybe I just don't understand the issue.
