GE everyone,
I just joined the forum and am interested in getting back into programming.  I have a fair amount of experience programming in the old C language, 16bit assembly and a little pascal. I have never programmed in C++ and found visual studio 2010 which a friend gave me when he purchased a later version. In fact I spent the evenings of the last two or so weeks trying to figure out how to write and compile a simple program to read and write to a file .. what a bummer. 

So I am interested in expanding my horizons and learning

Many thanks for Code::Blocks, keep the good work up. I'm setting up Code::Blocks with the MinGW compiler on Windows 8.1 for my company, so far it works great. A little memory consuming on my old notebook with win XP and 2GB RAM, new on is a PC and works fine. Still have to make my own Makefile to instruct the debugger application VisionClick v7.0 and other software. But for now, I'm solving the errors and warnings of the new compiler, modern compiler == more strictly syntax
