Some bug when writing in Cyrillic? Unicode support broken?

When I'm writing down comments in russian I often have to put an extra space or two before characters been written. It looks like there is some erroneous interpretation of Unicode.
Build: Feb 28 2009, 04:19:46 - wx2.8.9 (Linux, unicode)  from Fedora 11 repository.
