Is there a way to auto-save workspace and layout ?

I don't get what exactly you want: The UI layout is saved and the workspace layout, too. Except you have disabled it in the options. BTW: Whatever it is - you did not say anything about your version, OS, configuration etc. So there is no much chance someone can help you without this information.
