Main .cpp locked

I purchased a book on c++ that came with a compiler and codeblocks along with a lot of sample code to run and learn. All the main.cpp files are locked so i cant activate or run the programs. i use window 7, code block ver 10.05. What version compiler should i have and i have read through a lot of post and seen varied answers. But i'm grateful you guys have this forum to learn from.

Have you tried to copy the sources to your computer?

Make sure the sources are not below a folder with restricted access rights (like the Programs folder).
