Starting a new gui project on codeblocks

if this is not the right place to ask this please reference me to the right place..thanks.
How do I start a new gui project(for example a caculator with buttons)?
I tried using the wXwidgets project but i'm stuck at the wxWidgets location.
Is it better using another gui app? thanks.
