apart from which one I like the most, I think as in Thomas's it's good to have the url in there.

Apart from that, Yiannis wanted it explicitely that way...

And no, you don't have a winner. You still don't see that this "contest" is pointless.

And how so? Yiannis????

Game_Ender

I would like thomas' logo better if it didn't have an orange '1'.  Fix that and it will be pretty good.

Mind explain the reasons of why you think that?
You're free to delete this poll, and please do if you think that...

How so is easily explained. Takeshi pulls a "contest", taking a work-in-progress version of mine which he calls "current" and compares it to a few modifications which he has made in a couple of minutes. Sorry, but this is just ridiculous, there is no point in this comparison.

The splash screen has undergone many revisions and changes during the last 3 weeks. I have spent around 30 working hours on this image alone and produced about 200 different revisions in that time (Takeshi did not mention any interest in the matter even once during the last weeks).
As the splash screen has undergone changes, it will undergo further changes. So what good is this contest? What do you want to compare at all?

For example, Tiwag proposed a change on the backdrop colour only this afternoon. I am currently working on a couple of variations close to what he wants, and if it Yiannis tells me that it is ok, then the splash screen will look differently again. Also, the version in SVN does not have a drop shadow, which is intended in the final version. The "over embossing" is not done without reason either, it is the same style as it is used in the preferences icons. The colour of the digit, on the other hand, is not unlikely to be changed still... I could continue like this for forever.

The URL is in there because Yiannis wanted it like that. He also did not want the "Version 1.0" on the bottom. Do you think I would put it under SVN if I had not shown it to the other devs and had heard a few suggestions and got the boss' OK?

people always have different tastes. A contest could be interesting, maybe a super nice logo comes out of it, but even then. My girlfriend thinks our logo (and the proposals) are plain ugly. She's a webdesigner, artistic level ... , according to her we techies have no good feeling for this. ;-) 8)
So everyone will find another one better, worse, ....

Thing is, it is best once Version 1 is out, not to change logo's that fast, although remember Firefox ...

Anyhow, let's get back at killing bugs and adding new features. How about a plug-in that generates a logo of the day ...... no no no don't kill me

Sorry, but I was holding the "poll" until you had your last version. Today when I checked out the svn, I saw the new logo commited, which I thought was your latest version (and final word). You didn't specify in the log "not finished".
I wanted to be fair, if you cared to read:

However, maybe you should need to add another option in the poll, because I think read somewhere that thomas had made some new artworks for C::B, so that will be more fair.

Because I was waiting for your new logo. I think everyone thought what includes the latest revision is your final version.

Again, Yannis said to make a poll.
Even if your (and mine) logo is not final, the thread is still valid, because it gives a lot of user input on what the people want.
I like other people inputs, at least.

Thank you for treating my work like that. It costed me more than a couple of minutes, and if you care to remember, I have made it from about the RC2 was made, long months ago. Even my SDK Reference manual is using that image.

From my plugin_ideas.txt:

"Code::Something, plugin that changes application title and splash image a'la Firesomething."

This was actually written before RC2 was released, I never got to writing the actual plugin, because it's just plain stupid :D. Maybe I shouldn't brainstrom ideas when drunk.

I think the same (thomas, and I) would have to be more focused on programming. It would be amazing if we have the artist designer of the Firefox logo for example. It should be a task for design people, not programmers.
The problem is that we are lacking human resources... so that's why we do it ourselves.

And BTW, the logo despite being something trivial, is very important.
What do you think that Firefox could be now if they still used the dinosaur logo?

First impressions is very important, and it's what attract people (and developers, etc).

Maybe she could propose a logo? 8)

Revvy

I really like the one Takeshi posted most recently.  It's smooth, simple and informative.
