Changing compiler settings:tool chain settings

This is my first posting, so let me first thank all the great contributing developers for this great free IDE - "Thanx a lot, keep on going ".
The reason for my posting: some where between SVN 3500 and now you changed the "Global compiler settings:tool chain settings" from a stacked tab control to a list box control  :?. I missed the discussion about the reason - do you have a link to this? Is there a way to switch between both layouts (except to go back to an old SVN# ;-) )?
