How do i compile?... Linux version

Yeah i know its realy dumb question, but im new to linux

I have latest Ubuntu version and i instaled Code::Blocks 8.02 on it, I did not have troubles like that on windows, but on linux i dont have a slightest idea how to compile my things, i have most recent gcc compiler but i cant find any button captioned with "compile" in my linux codeblocks version, when im pushing F9 nothing happens except for writing this character "Ŝ" into my code. Can anyone somehow help me with that?
